This is the premier combat handgun, the 1911 .45ACP. This particular piece was customized entirely by the owner. It has an industrial hard chrome finish, Ed Brown thumb safety, Novak rear sight, Colt Gold Cup front sight, Wilson match bushing, Wilson grip safety, and numerous other enhancements. This is a preferred weapon, at HQ and the Prairie, as it is versatile, compact enough to carry, and powerful enough for anything at either location. |

The tools of the victors of World War II. Top, an M1 Garand. In 30-06, this was the principle battle rifle of U.S. troops during that war. Effective to 600 yards and beyond, its power dwarfs the current U.S. standard, the M16.
Below it, the Enfield No. 4 Mk2, .303 British. An effective and proven weapon since World War I. |

A near matched set of .45s, both customized by the author. Top is Shorthair's, bottom is DiverDucks' custom Colt. Please note the distinct lack of sentience, intent or animation on the part of these weapons. |

This Ruger has had its action smoothed and the grip relieved at the butt to better fit the shooter's hand. It gets 1350 fps from a 240 grain Hornady XTP. Great deer and bear round and truly a robust enough revolver to handle these stout loads. |

Now here's a picture to make Janet Reno's head spin (and not just because she's possessed...) Clockwise from upper left, custom Auto-Ord .45, TZ-75 in 9mm (how did that mousegun get in here?) Shorthair's custom Auto-Ord .45, and Series 70 Colt .45. All work done by author. |

Shorthair's Swedish Mauser In 6.5x55, this rifle is mild, yet capable for just about anything in North America - or Europe, where it has a long history of target championships and moose(!) hunting. |

Springfield makes some nice firearms, this one is a lightly customized Champion in .45ACP. Very tight, very well made and a handy carry gun. |

Hmmmm. A Savage F112V in .22-250, a dead crow, and I still have a full box of ammo. What to do? |

That's right kids. Shorthair's a genuine USMC Rifle Expert. Three attempts, three awards.
This is an ancient USMC bootcamp photo, discovered by new recruits researching the roll call for mess duty at the Last Supper. Here, at Edson Range, Camp Pendleton, California, Shorthair (aka "the Young Sea Pup") gets ready to go downrange with his M16A1E1. Back in those days our targets were commies, today they are fanatical religious zealots. Accurate rifle fire is effective on both forms of vermin.
